Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts can only be submitted online via https://www.abstractmodule.com/2025ugh/?plng=tur starting from May 15, 2025, until the final submission deadline on September 25, 2025.
- Authors are expected to comply with the abstract submission rules.
- Abstracts that do not conform to the guidelines will not be considered for evaluation.
- The submitting author must be a researcher who has made significant contributions to the study and has the right to present it.
- The corresponding author is responsible for the accuracy and scientific content of the submitted abstract.
- The corresponding author agrees to be the point of contact for all correspondence related to the abstract and to inform co-authors of any updates regarding its status.
- The corresponding author confirms that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract, support the data, and have granted permission for submission.
- Additionally, the corresponding author will provide proof of this permission if requested.
- The corresponding author confirms that the submitted abstract is an original work and is obligated to disclose if it has been previously published or presented elsewhere.
- The corresponding author confirms that the abstract has not been previously submitted to the National Gastroenterology Week by any co-author.
- Any financial interest related to the products or processes mentioned in the abstract must be disclosed.
- A conflict of interest statement must be completed for each author.
- Once accepted for presentation, the copyright of the abstract is considered transferred to the Turkish Society of Gastroenterology, and permission is granted for its publication in the Supplement of the 2025 National Gastroenterology Congress.
- The corresponding author confirms that all co-authors are aware that presentation materials are prepared for publication and that the abstract will be published upon acceptance.
- The corresponding author declares that permission has been obtained for the use of any third-party material (text fragments, images, maps, tables, etc.).
Author Information
- The title and author names must be written in bold.
- The name of the corresponding author must be underlined.
- The corresponding author's email address should be added below their name.
- Institutional information should be written in italics and follow this order: department, university faculty, city, country.
- Example: Department of Gastroenterology, XXX University Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul, Türkiye
- The city and country of the institution must be complete and accurate.
Text
- Abstracts must be prepared in both Turkish and English, and presented in Turkish.
- Abstracts must not exceed 2750 characters (including spaces, excluding title and author information).
- Title: Should be concise, and only proper nouns, abbreviations, and the first word of the sentence should be capitalized.
- Brand names, non-standard abbreviations, or author names should not be used in the title.
- Author List: Academic titles should not be included.
- Structure: Abstracts must be structured under the following four sections:
- Background/Aims: State the purpose of the study.
- Materials and Methods: Describe the experimental procedures.
- Results: Summarize the findings.
- Conclusion: State the main conclusions.
- For Case Reports, the structure should be:
- Introduction: Provide brief background information.
- Case Presentation: Present the case details.
- Conclusion: State the key takeaways.
- Abbreviations may be used if they are standard or defined at first use in parentheses.
- Compound names should be written with lowercase generic names.
- Special characters (Greek letters, scientific symbols, etc.) may be added via the text insert tool or copy-paste.
- Abstracts may include one table or one figure at most.
- Tables must not exceed 10 rows and 10 columns.
- Figures must have a minimum resolution of 300 DPI and a minimum size of 100x100 mm.
- Accepted formats: JPG or PNG.
- Do not refer to visuals in the text as “(Figure 1)” or “(Table 1)”.
- No references or citations should be included in the abstract text.
Statistical and Numerical Formatting
- Pay attention to spacing and formatting when writing P-values and percentages.
- Use a period (.) as the decimal separator (e.g., P < .01, 37.8%).
- Do not use separators in four-digit numbers (e.g., 4563).
- Use spaces in numbers with five or more digits (e.g., 50 000).
- Use correct mathematical symbols such as ≥ and ≤; do not use ">=” or “<=”.
- Use ± instead of “+/-”.
- Units must be stated as g/dL (capital L), mL, kg/m² (m² as superscript).
- Use superscript format for powers (e.g., 10⁶ instead of “10^6”).
Figures and Tables
- All figures and tables must be in English.
- Figures and tables must be placed at the end of the abstract.
- Figure captions must be placed below the figure.
- The first word should be capitalized, and a period should be used at the end.
- Example: Figure 1. Distribution of patient responses.
- Table titles must be placed above the table.
- Each word should be capitalized, and no period should be used at the end.
- Example: Table 1. Distribution of Patient Responses
